- On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, Borough Council members inaugurated the Parc de Taishan, located at the corner of rue Alllard and rue Viola-Desmond in Quartier Angrignon.
- This new park provides families in the neighbourhood with splash pad and adventure play spaces for children. Relaxation and meeting areas as well as cool spots are planted with greenery.
- As it may be recalled, this public place, located in the heart of LaSalle’s Chinese community life, highlights the friendship pact signed in October 2018, between the borough of LaSalle and the city of Taishan, China. The two cities have agreed to further develop their relations and encourage exchanges between their residents.
- “A large part of the Chinese-LaSalle community lives right here in this neighourhood. I invited the entire population to take advantage of this place for gatherings and discussions, just like the friendly exchanges between LaSalle and Taishan.”
Nancy Blanchet, Mayor of the Borough of LaSalle - Taishan-born Montreal artist Ngan Siu-Mui was also on hand to celebrate the event. Ngan Siu-Mui created the manificent Chinese calligraphy symbolizing the name of Parc de Taishan, engraved on the identification marker at the entrance to the park.
