Art of Tea Workshops
The Art of Tea Workshops are designed for Tea Lovers wanting to become knowledgeable in preparing and serving a nice cup of tea in the sophisticated Traditional Chinese way. How the harvesting and drying of the tea buds produce tea of different quality and flavour, how to identify these different kinds of tea, how to properly brew a cup of Chinese tea and ultimately, how to serve tea in a formal ceremonial manner. A unique experience in a traditional Chinese cultural activity.
The workshops can be attended by anyone. No basic knowledge is required.
Program (5.5 hours)
- 10:00am to 12:30pm
- Identifying different kinds of tea: Four Seasons Tea, Green Tea, Fermented Tea, Oolong Tea, Raw Tea, Ripe Tea
- Demonstration: preparing a good cup of tea
- Practice: participants prepare tea
- How to taste tea
- Techniques of Tea-making: picking-up of tea buds and fermentation
- Proper storage of tea leaves
- 1:30pm to 4:30pm
- Demonstration of Tea Ceremony
- Demonstration of Kung Fu Tea
- Drinking tea in the proper atmosphere
- The benefits of drinking tea

- Where: Ngan Siu-Mui's Studio in Dorval
- Tuition fees: 100$ (+tax = 115$)
Miscellaneous informations
- All material and tea tools are provided. The tea, the tea tools and all the relevant material are from the Ten Ren Teaïsm Foundation in Taïwan.A booklet of lecture notes is also included.
- The number of students is strictly limited to 12.
- Reservation: please confirm your seat by sending your cheque payable to Ngan Siu-Mui (postal address), at least one week before the workshop.
- How to get to my studio: you will receive detailed transportation instructions once your reservation is confirmed.
